Americans currently have the option to contribute $3 ($6 on joint
returns) on their Federal Tax Returns to go towards presidential
campaigns. Would you please tell me:

1) who else has tried to add a "check off box" onto Federal Returns
2) what the money was to be used for (ie: where was it to go?)
3) why it failed (to be added to the return)

Thank you!

Are you hoping to find info about other nations that have used (or
planned to use) a check-off box to acquire funds for certain projects?

Or are you looking for other "check-off" projects that have been
proposed for use in the United States?

Dear April,

I've been researching your question off and on for the last few days
and unfortunately I didn't locate any additional relevant information
for you.

I didn't come across anything that has actually gotten passed in the
last couple of years.

If you are interested in the partial information that I was able to
locate, I suggest that you lower the price of your question accordingly.

Best regards,
Bobbie7

The National Park Centennial Act

Bill would let you donate tax refund to parks system

?Taxpayers could designate a portion of their federal income tax
refund to benefit Mount Rainier National Park and other national parks
if a bill introduced Thursday in Congress becomes law. ?

?The National Park Centennial Act, sponsored by U.S. Rep. Brian Baird
(D-Vancouver) and supported by Rep. Dave Reichert (R-Bellevue), is
designed to help alleviate chronic maintenance and operations
shortfalls throughout the park system by 2016, the 100th birthday of
the National Park Service.?

?To collect the refund money, a second check-off box would be added to
federal income tax returns.?

?The minimum contribution would be $1.?

?The other check-off, in place since 1972, allows taxpayers to
designate a portion of their tax liability to the presidential
campaign fund.?

?Baird and Rep. Mark Souder (R-Ind.) offered the same bill last fall.
And Reichert?s predecessor, former Rep. Jennifer Dunn (R-Bellevue),
tried to win an income tax check-off for parks a few years ago.?

Service centennial. It would do so by providing a voluntary check-off
box on federal income tax forms.?
