This is a little bit out of your desired area, but Callaway Gardens in
SW Georgia is a great place for a mini vacation.  They have a
lakefront beach, a few nice restaurants, nature trails with biking,
butterfly center, mini golf, etc.

Check out Amelia Island Plantation Resort. They have some neat
programs for 2-3 and 3-4 night mini vacations. They have spas, golf,
great beaches, plenty of other activities, and the rooms are really
nice.
