I have seen the following quote attributed to H.G. Wells: "Every time I see an adult on a bicycle, I no longer despair for the future of the human race" I would like to know the source of the quote, that is, if it is from one of his books, which book and where within the book it is located. |

This information may be helpful: "Although Wells did write a cycling novel, 'The Wheels of Chance,' this quote--as far as I could tell--is drawn from something he said verbally that got noticed and written down, etc. You can find it--and more than 900 other quotes on cycling--in a book just published called 'The Quotable Cyclist.' It's $20 from Breakaway Books." http://groups-beta.google.com/group/rec.bicycles.misc/msg/29171135ebd96a12 |

I wouldn't go by Wells' ideas, he was a pretty blatant racist. |
