I'm wondering if anyone has looked at the differences in the
cost-to-market for different types of products. Examples might
include a pacemaker, a car engine, a cellphone, a pharmaceutical. I'm
interested to find out how the payoff for a new product affects the
development cost; specifically, I'm interested to see some differences
in the cost/time of product development for "critical" technologies
like medical and defense vs that for things like cars and
communication.
