I am looking for a technical manual for my car stereo. I own a 2003 Toyota Matrix with a factory installed in-dash 6-CD changer with AM/FM radio. The front of it has the model number "AD1801". I intend to try to hook up an iPod adapter device to the AUX input (which is a 2x6 pin input). Most people who have tried this with the 6-CD changer have not had any luck getting it to work. (Like here: http://www.audiobanter.com/q-t_26453-AUX-POD-and-Toyota-Matrix.html) I have been told by people who make the Neo iON that it may be a matter of doing something like holding down the "seek" button to get the stereo to recognize the AUX adapter. I also need to identify the always-on 12V power line so I can charge the iPod. If I can't get that information, I will buy a line tester. The specific information I am looking for is: 1) Which line I need to tap to get always-on 12V power going into the stereo. 2) What button combinations will work to get the stereo to recognize the device on the AUX input port? An acceptable answer would be a pdf of this manual or a valid link to where I can buy it if those specific questions can't be answered. | |

.... After two months of trying to resolve this with PAC, they just informed me that the AUX-POD will not work on this stereo. Apparently, although this stereo has an aux port on the back and an aux button on the front, it has no aux capabilities. HOW STUPID IS THAT! DECEPTIVE TOO! from: http://www.audiobanter.com/q-t_26453-AUX-POD-and-Toyota-Matrix.html ...bill in corvallis |

corvallis-ga: Yes, I've seen that, too. I'm not convinced that PAC is a definite source, so I'm still looking for a manual for the stereo. |

corvallis-ga: Thanks for all those links. Your comment on installdr.com will probably answer my first question, and your other comments give me some good background information I hadn't seen yet. Since it could be that there is no answer to question 2, why don't you re-post what you wrote in an answer to my question so I can give you credit for it? |

Thank you for the compliment that I may have come close to "answering" your question(s). It appears I cannot post an Answer as I am not a Registered Researcher, and Google Answers is not accepting new applicants at this time. This is ok as I've run into this before. I will post two more links here, then get off of this interesting challenge. http://www.mobileinformationlabs.com/index.htm?source=adwords http://www.mnrelectronics.com/ ...bill in corvallis |

Oh, that mobile information labs web site looks like it might have what I'm looking for... or it might be a scam. I will have to think about if it's worth $13 to find out. It seems reasonable that they would charge for the diagrams, though. Anyway, thank you for looking up all this information. I'm sorry that you are not an official google researcher. If there are any Google people reading this comment, I would like to recommend corvallis-ga as a google researcher. |
