What is the meaning of "|43|ASP_0105_:_80004005|Index_out_of_range" in
the cs-uri-query field of my access logs when PayPal tries to post to
my IPN script? If it is the result of an error in my script, what is
it doing in the query field?

Clarification of Question by ennex-ga on 16 Mar 2005 15:55 PST
Please understand that I know that this error means that there is a
problem with an array index somewhere. As far as I know now, the
cs-uri-query field is intended to contain the query string of a URI.
My IPN script is running fine when I access it myself, but I get this
entry in my log file when PayPal tries to send an IPN post to it, and
the script does not provide any other evidence of having been hit,
despite having a sendmail call at the very beginning.

What I am looking for in an answer is enough information to help me
understand what's going on enough to further troubleshoot the problem
and debug the script.

Here is some more detailed info on the log entries:
     -- cs-method = ?POST?
     -- c-ip = either ?notify.paypal.com? or ?216.113.188.202?
     -- cs-uri-stem = one of my two IPN-handling scripts:
               "/~POOFF/util/SiteMember.asp" or
               "/~POOFF/util/SitePayPalIPN.asp"
     -- cs-uri-query = ?|43|ASP_0105_:_80004005|Index_out_of_range? +
                       ?|43|ASP_0105_:_80004005|Index_out_of_range?
     -- sc-status = 500

There were 98 such entries in my log file in one 10-hour period today.
I believe they are coming from PayPal resending failed posts, looking
for a "200" status.

Thank you for your assistance out of this quandry.
