I own a Vdigi Enhanced VD-Z3 VGA transcoder box. It allows me to play
Xbox games that support HDTV (480p) on my old VGA monitor.
Incidentally, I can also play games that don't support HDTV, although
I have no idea how this is possible (unless my Xbox can also output
some sort of scan-doubling HD signal). At any rate, the product is
also compatible with HDTV Play Station 2 games.

Hope this helps.

more details about the product.
