If you neuter a male hunting dog does it hurt his ability to hunt?

If male dogs are anything like the rest of us males, it might improve
his attention to the job, no longer being distracted ...

Both my male labs (one deceased, one very much alive) were neutered
and it didn't seem to affect their ability or desire. Both were older
than usual when it was done and I don't know if this would make a
difference. I also have a female lab (also neutered) who never had an
interest in picking up dead birds although she loved the hunting part
(and before anyone comments, I do know about force-training - it
didn't matter enough to me to try that).
