I am trying to find out about a picture I have seen a number of times,
but now suddenly cannot find. It is a classical painting of a man
astride a winged horse. They have both been bound to the ground with
criss-crossing ropes. Above them, another person on a winged horse
(these two are still free) looks down.

I *believe* that this story comes from greek mythology, but am
uncertain. It's something to do with a man who had been warned not to
go somewhere, but did anyway and was ensnared. The second rider I
think is his mate, still free, but unable to go to him, as he is
unable to go back to her.

If someone could tell me where to find this picture, or at least who
the people in the picture are, that would be great.

Thanks!

Dear creay5-ga

The John Pitre painting you are speaking of is called ?Restrictions?.
The rider represents ?man? and the Pegasus upon which he is mounted is
our chosen ?occupations, goals, loves and dreams?. The silver tethers
represent the restrictions on us.

You can obtain a copy of the painting ?Restrictions? from the John
Pitre Gallery by calling (800) 462-8004 or by visiting the web site.
