Here's a description of one such play of the period:

-----
Refinement meets burlesque in Restoration comedy. In this scene from
George Etherege's Love in a Tub, musicians and well-bred ladies
surround a man who is wearing a tub because he has lost his pants.
-----

Sounds pretty comical to me!

I have to complete an essay on the pro's and con's of restoration
comedy in the seventeenth century. I have to anwser whether
restoration comedy was considered comical for that period of time and
provide a couple of examples.
I need to be able to create an argument as to why this type of comedy
was considered comic maybe comparing two writers such as Coldridge &
Shakespeare, or someone of that period. So I am really looking for a
straight forward answer stating 'Yes' it was comical because it
provided this and 'No' because of these reasons. please can anyone
help? Thanks very much.
