I want to form a business where I do errands for people. They would simply call me and I'd do whatever it is they need done. I have no idea how to research how to set up a business such as this. Do you have any suggestions? | |

Try looking up "concierge" in Google. |

A few years ago, a friend of mine tried this sort of thing. Her main difficulty was in finding good, steady clients. Unless you already have excellent references in some kind of personal-service business, it isn't easy to convince people to trust your abilities to meet their needs. My friend also found that many of the wealthy people who use this kind of service are cheapskates. Someone may be a multimillionaire, but that doesn't necessarily mean that he is going to tip well for good service. You might try placing a classified ad promoting your services in CraigsList, or in your local newspaper. But I strongly suggest keeping your current job until you are certain that you're able to support yourself with the income from the new endeavor. |
