Okay, here's the deal. As a child, I'd watch a video at my
grandmother's house but have not heard of or seen the film since I've
grown.

Here is what I remember about it: it starred a young girl who was
trying to save her grandmother from getting old. The only way she knew
to do this is to retrieve these fruits (I think they were called
"youngberries," or something of that sort), but the catch was, it the
fruits touched the ground they would disappear. So she would walk
through mirrors, where she met with some strange creatures (I have no
recollection of what these creatures looked like, but I do know they
were there), and it documents their journey as they try to get to
these berries, which are guarded by a queen or a witch or something,
who stays forever young by eating the berries.

If this helps any, we rented the video from the Baltimore County
Public Library in Maryland, in the late 80s, early 90s.

If anyone can name this film, I would forever grateful. Thanks in advance!

Hi leighannp:

The TV movie you are looking for is "The Hugga Bunch" which came out in 1985.

Found That Film!

Thanx Marphisa....I think that i saw this movie in the 1980's, on tv,
color, in the united states, basic tv (not on a movie channel or
anything). It is a children or family movie about a girl and her
brother who go through the mirror to find these magic berries that
will make her grandmother/grandfather not pass away. "youthful
berries" or something. I don't remember much except that they go to
this strange 'land', beat the witch with the help of their fairytale
friends, and get the berries. Tragically as the girl is stepping back
through the mirror she trips and spills the berries and they are gone
forever. My friend and I seem to be the only ones who have ever heard
of this movie so please help us if you can."

Quote: "Meet Bridget, our heroine. She's visiting her grandma, who's
sicker then a horse with a rash. Doctors give grandma a few days to
live, and Bridget is really, really depressed. Gran knew how to give
the best hugs. By the way, in case you couldn't tell, Bridget is
played by Gennie James, who played Sally Feild's daughter in "Places
in the Heart" and a young Jane in "Broadcast News", so she's a little
star, dontcha know. And she's really depressed. So depressed, she
needs to cry her eyes out in front of a mirror."

While this TV movie doesn't appear to be available new anymore, there
are some used ones for sale ($$$) on Amazon:

Search Strategy (on Google):
* movie berries grandmother disappear mirror
* "the hugga bunch"

I hope this helps put your mind at ease.

Howdy leighannp-ga,

To hopefully add to websearcher-ga's excellent answer, another source for
the movie appears to be eBay.
http://search.ebay.com/Hugga-Bunch-movie

For instance, there is a "Buy It Now" copy there for $12.95 at this time.

Looking Forward, denco-ga - Google Answers Researcher
