I will be moving shortly from Montreal to Paris and would like
assistance on several topics. How and where to look for an appartment
not too far from where I will be working, namely LaDefense. I would
like the apartment to be ideally within walking distance or at worse
closeby using the Metro/Subway. The price could range from 1500 to
2500 euros max monthly. This could be rental or owning if at all
possible within this kind of budget. The neighborhood should be calm
yet animated with small little shops and cafes/restaurants and it
should be safe to walk around as I like to take long walks.

Secondly I need information on moving cost and moving solutions.
Although I don't plan on moving all my furniture and personal
belongings at this point I know I will have more then what can usually
be brought as luggage when traveling with most Airlines. I will be
initially moving all my clothes, books, cd/dvd, and perhapps some
kitchen articles (no appliances) and bathroom articles such as towels
and linen. Enough to probably need more then the usual luggage we take
on airlines but not enough to fill up a truck even a smal one for that
matter!

I lived in Paris (10e arrondissement) in 1962/63. At that time my rent
for a 2-room flat was in the region of FF850-. These days that would
equate to roughly 3-4000 euros. I advise you to begin by saying how
many rooms you would like with a rough idea of the total surface area.
I fancy that Paris is a good deal more expensive than you may have
thought.
