How can I determine the EXACT specs of the Video Card in my PC? I did
find info on the Intel card (I think - I printed it below) but this
doesnt say it IS card, I assume it is. I ask this question so that I
can determine if my hardware meets the specs of game playing - For
example, I know that I must have the following specs to play a game
(3D accelerated 32 MB video card or equivalent with HW-T&L
(Hardware Transform & Lightning) and 24-bit z-buffer) but I cant seem
to locate meaningful info that reveals these details -

Thanks folks - this was indeed helpful except that the details the
speak directly to the requirements of the game are still elusive. Here
is what my SYS INFO said:

Name	Intel(R) 82865G Graphics Controller

So it seems I have a decent card, and I went to the Intel site and
found some compatibility charts that show all the games this Video
card will support - and I found that my card works with 3D imaging -
but this "HW-T&L (Hardware Transform & Lightning) and 24-bit z-buffer"
thing I have no clue what they are talking about. I tried a DEMO of
the game BREED - and keep getting an error that says "Unable to Create
Depth Buffer" - any ideas?

Although I did go to the 3D accelerated 32 MB video card or equivalent
with HW-T&L (Hardware Transform & Lightning) and 24-bit z-buffer

Go to start, all program, assesories, system tools, system
information. Then under system summery go to componets and select
display and there you should see your video card.

For vid ID this is often quite useful.

Get to an MS-DOS Prompt: If you are running a version of Windows, you
need to either open an MS-DOS prompt or shut Windows down to MS-DOS
mode.

Enter the "DEBUG" Program: From the DOS prompt, type "debug" and then
{Enter}. The system will display a single dash ("-").

Display the Video Card BIOS Area: Type the following, exactly (and
nothing else, or you risk doing something to your system that you
really don't want to): "d c000:0010". This will display the contents
of the beginning part of the video BIOS ROM. The system will display a
bunch of hexadecimal digits across most of the screen. On the
left-hand side you will see text letters that correspond to these
codes. For most video cards, you will see the name of the manufacturer
and information about the video chipset type and version number.

Scroll Down If Necessary: On some systems you may need to scroll down
further to find the information. Do this by typing just "d" and then
{Enter}, one or more times. More information will display on the
screen.

Exit "DEBUG": Press "q" and then {Enter} to quit the debug program.

Going though debug does not always give you all of the information
about your video card. Often times it will give you the manafacture of
the chip and no more.
