Hi mrr11,

Thank you for your question.

Woodworms--Infestation of woodworms in furniture is characterized by
tiny holes surrounded by sawdust. Woodworm insecticide is available at
any hardware store. You can protect future outbreaks with insecticidal
wax.

Some antique furniture, dry with age, is susceptible to insect
attacks. Examine frequently for new holes and little dust-like heaps
of powder. If woodworms are discovered, use an insecticide, spraying
directly into the holes.

Furniture Beetle (Anobium punctatum)

SIGNS OF ACTIVITY
As females we lay eggs in corners, cracks and old woodworm holes which
only take a few weeks to hatch. Once the larvae hatch they eat to grow
bigger, from a larvae into an adult furniture beetle. This development
can take 2-3 years, so 'Woodworms' can burrow into wood for years,
causing huge damage. It can be very difficult to find us.
Signs we have been at work: wood dust and poo (called frass) around
the freshly cut round holes created when the beetle emerges.

HOW TO FIND & PREVENT ME FROM CAUSING DAMAGE?
Good housekeeping-i.e. cleaning, removing dust
Inspection -looking out for signs of fresh attack, piles of dust,
freshly made holes (holes which we have made by burrowing in wood to
come out of it)
Ensuring there are no damp areas in wooden beams, floors and panelling.

The larvae of different species of furniture beetles are very
difficult to distinguish between but they are all soft, curved and
have very small legs and are known collectively as woodworms. The
frass (dust) from the bore-hole consists of lemon shaped-gritty
pellets.

Against woodworms spray the product on the furniture and into the
holes done by the woodworms. It does not stain and it can be used in
any room within the house and in other indoor areas.
