I commend you for the obviously hard work that you have put into your
site, and that you care enough to ask for opinions about it.
The two things that I noticed is the color scheme is very hard on the
eyes. Certain colors are brighter than others, and due to eye
physiology if the wrong colors are placed next to each other (like the
blue and yellow with red letters you use) will cause viewing
discomfort and may prompt some visitors to leave.
Notice http://www.powells.com/
Look at how they use pastel earth tones around a the center that has
black text on white, which many readers prefer to see.
While it would be difficult to copy all the functionality of Powells,
changing to a more comfortable softer color scheme should not be too
difficult for you. I suggest where you have the book listings that you
have plain black text on a white background.
Other than that, better search functionality might be nice for people
looking for a specific title, and those who want to search by ISBN.
But this would require more effort.
Changing the color scheme to a more pleasing mix is the one
enhancement that I would try to make. |
