I need a solution to get Either ReiserFS, XFS, or ZFS to work on my
system. I need a 9 TB partition. It's 3 RAID 5 (3ware cards) arrays, 10 disks per
array - I don't care if you have to software RAID across the arrays...
this is for a MySQL Box. It's Quad Opteron running the Linux 2.6
kernal. I'll pay $100 to anyone that gives me a working solution!

ZFS is out, because 3ware doesn't support solaris 10 yet. ReiserFS and
XFS are both in the stable 2.6 kernels-

So do you need help getting JVM working?

On linux You can use hardware or software raid. This is posible to
create large partition over many small disks. On this partiotion You
can create any file system which supports that size. ReiserFS
supports.
What kind of working soliuton did You wan't?
To have this system, You need to tune/config kernel, create/manage
raid, and create file system. What exactly did You want?

First of all, RAID5 will suck hard for performance as a db server. Trust me.

Second, XFS is unstable, in my experience. It crashes machines frequently.

Now, if you have 3 x 12 port 3Ware 8500 series cards, you can do 3 6x2
RAID10 arrays of 300GB SATA disks, for 5.4TB useable.

If you insist on going the RAID5 route, I recommend you do each
controller as a 12 disk RAID5 with one hot spare, for 10 data disks
(3TB each), and stripe across the three of them, for your 9TB. But
performance will be bad.

ReiserFS is probably your best bet. I highly recommend a 2.6 Linux kernel.
