Question ID: 497863
The person I bought it from said it was a 1937 Airstream. I've looked
at so many pictures of Airstreams and other vintage trailers, but I
can't find a picture of anything that looks like mine. I've been told
several times it is definitely not a Airstream. I thought for a while
it might be a Pierce Arrow but I e-mailed pictures to the Pierce Arrow
museum and they said it was not a Pierce Arrow. I'm hoping you can
help me put together the pieces of this convoluted puzzle.

The only info it hasis on the hitch itself. It says AMERICAN MFG CO
MOBILE TRAILER NO2395 Culver City CA. On another plate on the hitch it
says Berluti MFG CO SAOINA W MICH.

There is insignia that has been removed. It is of a circle with three
lines on each side. It is on the front of the trailer. I can make out
the words "Mobilglide" above the circle.

On the back there is the same removed insignia with the words
something-"trotter" above the circle, it might be globetrotter?

The trailer is between 14 and 16 ft long and has been completely
gutted on the inside. I would be grateful for any information. What
it is? When and where was it made? How much it is worth? Ideally,
I'd like to see a picture of one like it, or some definitive answer.

Thank you so much,

Melissa

I'm unable to see the picture... you may want to check on it.

Also, I think the text you say is "SAOINA W MICH" is probably meant to
be 'Saginaw, Michigan'. This might prove useful in identifying the
trailer!

Saginaw Michigan is probably right. The tag on the trailer is old and
hard to read. I just checked on the pictures, I can see them if I
click on photos and then the Mystery... folder. I also posted them on
vintagetrailerclub in yahoo groups, also under Mystery... You will
need to subscribe to the group to see the pictures. I can also e mail
them to you. Or if you have a better idea where I can post them let
me know.

This appears to be an assembled trailer. The plans were available via
the magazines of the day. This was The Depression and anyone, with
access to materials and spare time, could have constructed one. This
might explain the diversity of placques that adorned it over time. see

I really don't think it is an assembled trailer. Any other theories?

It's a Mobil Glide; dates late 40's early 50's.
