Question ID: 498106
When I just attempted to open my ADOBE ALBUM software to download new
photos, I got the following error message:

"(Microsoft OBD driver manager)data source name not found and no
default driver specified"

I was then offered the option to recover this catalog--and catalog recovery failed.

What can I do to recover my photos?

Hi jwats,

Repair your catalog
1. Close Photoshop Album
2. Hold down the Control key as you restart Photoshop Album. Hold the
key down until you get the message: "Attempt to compact and recover
this catalog, then open again?"
3. Click OK. After Photoshop Album repairs the catalog you will get a
message that the repair completed successfully. Click OK again.
4. Your catalog will open.
5. Try importing your images again.

If that doesn't help, try this:

Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) 2.8 contains core Data Access
components such as the Microsoft SQL Server? OLE DB provider and ODBC
driver.

Please let me know how that goes,

Unfortunately, the recovery option you mentioned-- which follows the
error screen does not work--I get a message that a problem was
encountered during recovery

Hi jwats,

If you are hesitant to download Microsoft Data Access Components
(MDAC) 2.8 , you can read about it at the following link. There's a
good chance that installing it will solve the problem you are having.

I attempted to download MDAC 2.8 and after the download got an error
message that all of MDAC 2.8 was already contained in Windows XP
professional--So I could not add the new drivers
