Question ID: 498484
When cold booting ME, I get a blue screen error with this number:

06 : 05DF : 000093F2

I then shut down completely and reboot. On the second start up, it
successfully runs ScanDisk and then boots OK after that.

Everything runs fine until I totally shut down, after which the
problem happens again.

This has just started happening, after years with no problem.

No new hardware or software has been added to the system prior to this
error happening.

Any help would be appreciated

I'm the guy who originally asked the question, and I think I might
have solved the problem. Do any of the other respondents have Active
Desktop turned on? If so, turn it off and let me know if the problem
goes away. Thanks, Rick

hi ricktrow!

let me see if I understand...

you get your winme booting fine 1 out of 2? everytime?

did you try running an antivirus? maybe an antispyware? (adaware,
spybot, spyblaster)

I was about to post a very similar question. My computer starts to
boot up the desktop and then goes to a blue screen with an "Error: 0D:
4F4C: 00005064" message. After two or three restart attempts I can
get it to fully boot up. It's been doing this for a few weeks.
Systemworks 2005 doesn't find anything wrong with Windows ME or the
disk.

If someone can come up with an answer to both our questions, I'll
throw in an extra ten bucks.

Ok, i would try these things. Before shutting down do an "FDISK /MBR"
on your C Drive from a command prompt. This will recreate the Master
Bood record for that drive. If this does not fix your problem, i
would reccomend using the hard drive diagnostics program specific to
your hard drive. (i.e. Western Digital, Maxtor, etc.) these programs
can be found at the manufactureres website. to detect if you have some
corruption starting.

Good Luck.

Best option----Get windows XP pro and pitch the ME. Me was and is a
very unstable O.S. and should never have been allowed to be installed
on anything. I'm not saying this to be mean, just letting you know the
facts. As well as Win XP Home edition is also considerably more
unstable and likely to crash than XP pro.
Also, check you battery, a low battery can cause all kinds of strange
things. I know that for a fact. Had a system that would boot up
correct once in a while and half way(best i can describe it)other
times or not at all. Went crazy trying to figure it out until I read
an article somewhere about the battery thing. Changed the battery and
had no problems after that.
Hope that helps

I have just started getting this same error on booting Windows ME -
0D:4FC:00005064.
I have had relatively little trouble with ME up to this point so I
don't buy the argument that it is some generic problem with this OS.
It seems strange that it has just started to happen.
