Are there any doctors in London, or indeed Europe, who practice the
type of healing for back pain, advocated by Dr John Sarno of NYU, or
something similar?

See http://www.spiritsite.com/writing/johsar/ .

Where/who?

OK... that is an interesting find. It is not exactly what I want
though. First, it involves hypnotism. I do not think Sarno practices
that (since his books are supposedly self-implementable), but I could
be wrong. Secondly, this lady is not a doctor. Perhaps you dont have
to be a doctor, but I would prefer that. Thirdly, it is not in London.
Yes I will take Europe, but only as a worst case scenario.

So your suggestion is relevant and a good additional step in my
learning process, but I am not sure that it is a good answer, for my
purposes. Certainly I would not take this treatment from this clinic.
Thank you.

That site took me on to Richard Bandler and the NLP Insitute in
Birmingham. Ideally I want to avoid that kind of thing. The man may be
a miracle worker, but it is difficult to tell, and at least if he was
a qualified doctor, I could have a bit more confidence that he wasn't
selling snake oil. I don't mean to be harsh, I am trying to explain
the "quality" I want.

I sent off an email to the Seligman Medical Institute where Dr. Sarno
is Chairman of the Medical Advisory Board, asking about doctors who
practice this type of healing in the UK. I will let you know as soon
as they respond.

In any case your question will remain open so that another researcher
can try to find the information you need.

They replied that they are not familiar with any doctors in Europe or
the UK at this time; however they will keep an eye out for any Doctors
and will post on website if found.
