I have become member of a small group which is to make a report on the
export potential of a few products from a couple of developing
countries in Asia.
Our not-for-profit sponsor has encouraged us to use local
nationals to carry out as much as possible of the study. We have to
prepare some Terms of Reference for the work to be done, e.g.
collection/interpretation of data/information and subsequent use of
it.
We are eager to find some examples of Terms of Reference for
inspiration. Not least to check whether we have overlooked something.
Inspiration regarding for example legal aspects, confidentiality,
practical issues, format of reporting, time frame, copy rights,
payment conditions etc.
It might be that some Terms of Reference for studies other than
"export" and "trade" also contain elements for inspiration. Also
because none of us have English as mother tongue. |

alsinger-ga,
There are quite a few different styles used for Terms of Reference,
and they differ greatly in the amount and type of content, as well.
Here are a few examples. Let me know if these are helpful, and what
sorts of additional information would be useful to you as an answer to
your question.

Dear pafalafa,
Had a quick glance at your three proposals - which are all of some
interest. Number one (Caribbean) possibly most relevant - partly
because of the precise bullet-point listings. Good examples for
inspiration.
As for additional information...? Well, some examples are already
given in the original question of 22 March, some of which are not
dealt with in the three examples you found.
Ideal would be if you were able to find TORs related to studies on the
consequences of the WTO agreements and trade conditions. And further
into the details.....TORs related to concequences of the TRIMS/WTO
agreements (e.g. on the automotive industry) and the TRIPS/WTO
agreements (e.g. on the pharmaceutical industry) (If you come across a
study itself on one of these issues it would of course also be of high
interest).
However - and this is important: such sector- and agreement-oriented
details are Not a must for a response from you. There might be no such
TORs around. Mentioned here to give you the flavour of my needs.
In any case - it looks as if you are on the right track, so feel free
to pursue and answer with some more examples.

pafalafa,
Having looked very quickly only, your examples are good.
Best is maybe World Bank, Sierra Leone, NGO...., but others also have
some elements of use, I think.
Please go ahead...and complete.
