I don't know anything about the TX incident you're referring to Reoguy, but here are some thoughts to consider: 1) Who is paying to keep the patient alive? Is it private funds (insurance, family, estate...) or is it the government? If it's the government, then how much is that quality of life (vegetable state) worth to the tax payers of America? I know that's a harsh questions, but it has to be a realistic one. How much are the taxpayers willing to pay to keep someone alive in that state... often the medical bills will amount to millions over time. 2) What exactly is being done to keep this person alive? In the Florida case it was a feeding tube. In the Texas case (again I don't know the case) I'd bet it was life support of some greater means which is almost always the case in these matters (feeding tubes are not commonly accepted as "life support"). To say GWB is a hypocrit for saying to pull the plug on one person (although you're not even sure this is the case) yet fight to keep another person alive is a far stretch of reality... the circumstances were likely very different. If someone finds you all the facts to document the supposed TX incident then please compare the 2 situations closely and see how similar they really are before making your judgement. |

from what i have read today about the law GWB signed in tx vs what he signed in regards to TS, it is a ligit question as to whether it can be considered a "flip-flop" on his part. here is a link that talks about the tx law. i think that most people (probably throughout the world) are familiar now with what was signed by GWB the other night. http://www.kansascity.com/mld/kansascity/news/politics/11195230.htm i am still undecided, but it is something that i have been thinking about. -dave |
