People at my school have recently discovered www.thefacebook.com, a
site that allows people to communicate and lookup their friends from
high school and college. On this site you can make groups of friends
that people can join. My school realized that there was some
questionable content on this such ans "Under 21 beer drinkers" group
and decided to take this information and notify the parents of the
people in this group and others like it. If you have an inappropriate
picture including drugs and/or alcohol, they send them home to our
mothers and fathers. Is this legal? are they violating our
constitutional rights? we want to know so we can confront the school
about our privacy.

It's ironic that suddenly you are worried about the law when you
obviously totally disregarded it in the first place. 21 is still the
drinking age in the U. S. You can't arbitrarily decide which laws to
heed and which to disregard, just because a particular law doesn't
"suit your needs".
I commend the website for being responsible enough to follow through
on those dumb enough to brag about their unlawful actions. Bottom
line, don't put your name on the website!

**clarification**
I commend the school...not the website.

By posting your name and/or likeness in a public forum, you are
granting permission for anyone to use that information as they please.
The school is well within their rights for your stupidity.

first of all its not my stupid acts or responsibilities, i was trying
to help out a group of my friends who made a stupid mistake because
they dont have a google answers account. its not your place at google
answers to criticize others and you should be fired. also im not
talking about the content, im talking about my school taking students
posts on a website that is not related to them and sending it to
student's parents.

As I previously stated, the posts were in a public forum, posted for
anyone to see. You have just made me and a thousand other people who
may read your question aware of facebook.com. That is your right, and
you chose to do it. The school also has that right, even if the people
they choose to inform are parents of posters. They are not "invading
the privacy" of students, as it were, because if it WAS private, their
pictures and names wouldn't be on a PUBLIC website. As you, yourself,
so aptly stated, your friends made a "stupid mistake".
