I used to work for a company and if I wanted to use their remote
access system, they forced me to load their corprate version of NAV
7.61 on my PC. This corp version did not allow you to get defs from
anywhere but the companys parent server. I have since left said
company and am now trying to put my own version of SAV 8.1 on my pc.
However even tho I have completely removed anything having to do with
"symantec", "norton","pintnav01 (Parent servers name the software is
trying to connect to) and "navlucm" SAV 8.1 still is tyring to use the
parent server fed to me(pintnav01) by the install of 7.61. Does anyone
have any other Ideas on how to get this thing out of there? The
helpdesk told me that I was SOL and I need to completely rebuild my
machine. NOTE: I have also google searched my PC for the parent
server name to no avail. it looks like it is completely gone from my
pc but this must be coming from somewhere?

Have you searched the Windows Registry for strings that contain
"pintnav01" ? You can do this using the following procedure:

1. Go to "Start --> Run..." and type "regedt32" in the Run dialog
box. Press "Ok" to start the registry editor.
2. Place the cursor on top of "My Computer".
3. Press "Control+F" to initiate a search. In the search box type "pintnav"
4. If the registry editor finds a match it will display it (on the
bottom of the window it will tell you the location/key of the match).
5. You can select the matched entry and press "Del" to delete it.
6. Keep searching until you've searched the entire registry (since it
will likely be in there more than once!).

hope that helps.
