I have a wireless homenetwork, which uses a D-Link DI-624 router. I would like to prevent outsiders from accessing my home network. How do I go about doing this? |

Your router should've came with instructions. If not, look up this link. You might want to browse through D-Link website in general. Looks like there are 3 versions of your router, so make sure you pick the right one. http://support.dlink.com/faq/view.asp?prod_id=1055&question=DI-614+%20/%20DI-624%20/%20DI-614+_revB%20/%20DI-624_revC%20/%20DI-774%20/%20DI-774_revB%20/%20DI-514%20/%20DI-514_revC%20/%20DI-784 |

Hi, I'm not sure if this is still an issue for you but generally you will need to do any of the following and quite possibly use them in combinations: 1) Disable the Broadcasting of the SSID also known as the Wireless Network Name. 2) Enable MAC Address Security 3) Use WPA or WEP for encrypting the data All of these are disscussed in the book 'Wireless Networks Exposed' which can be downloaded from: http://www.wirelessxposed.com The book tells you everything that you need to know about Wireless Networks from security to IP Addressing on your Wireless Network, plus much more.. I've also written an article on wireless security that may add a few things, and explain in further detail the earlier comments: http://www.andybrain.com/archive/wireless_network_security.htm |
