I am looking on detailed information on OSI hosting. (www.osihosting.net) The company claims to have thousands of users all over the world but I think it is all a scam and the company doesn?t actually exist. Any info proving either way would be great, and kind of public filings or anything of the such. I have read pretty much every page that is returned on a Google "OSI Hosting" search, so you are going to have to dig deeper. |

Well, I have to say, if they were fly by night, they wouldn't proudly display listing by D&B... http://express.dnbsearch.com/2Questions.asp?callback=yes&source=lookup&compName=OSI+HOSTING%2ENET+INC&key=175102412&DunsCountry=US&foldertype=10 it'll cost $122 to get a full report on them. According to OSI Hosting.net's own site, they have locations in Texas, Miami, and Seattle. There is contact information on their page, including a direct (albeit toll) number to Dallas. osihosting.net whois says it is registered in Dallas, Texas. The registration has what appears to be a valid address http://maps.yahoo.com/maps_result?ed=1cNdbOp_0ToT6GNvg9y4Giw1forJ25clpTpQ&csz=Dallas%2C+TX&country=us&new=1&name=&qty= If there was any problem, it would only be that OSI Hosting.net's D&B icon doesn't work properly. I am not *quite* sure, but I feel the $80+/month for virtual hosting is quite high. I am not a GA Researcher. This is a free comment. |

Here are their current nameservers : NS1.EV1SERVERS.NET NS2.EV1SERVERS.NET On their about page, you can read how they are using EV1 as their standard : http://www.osihosting.net/about/ From outside appearances it seems they may have rented/leased a large batch of servers from EV1 to start their own hosting business. |

Hey, sgtcory-ga, I'm confused. Is that information pro or con? I'd *guess* that is good news? |

That's why I posted the comment in the context that I did. It's up to the reader to decide how they want to proceed. I'm web savvy enough to know that I don't need the support of another host, and would do just fine working directly with EV1. (Which I currently do.) However, some users feel good in knowing that there are other technical experts to help them along should they run into any issues. |

They claim to have data centers all over the U.S. with thousands of servers. So what gets me is that they are using EV1 as the host. Why with all these data centers and servers would you be using EV1? |

garf1234-ga, what are you trying to accomplish with the question? It appears that OSI Hosting is legitimate. They may happen to resell EV1 bandwidth or colocation, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. It's like getting your T1 from your local exchange carrier or competitive local exchange carrier. Yes, the CLEC is getting the line from, say, Sprint, but the CLEC might provide more dedicated customer service, etc. Regardless, I don't see that there is a better answer than what is given. If you have had a known dispute with the company, then this isn't the forum to air your grievances. If you are looking to host and determining if OSI Hosting.net can fulfill your needs, it seems reasonable to suggest that they can, at, IMHO, a premium. If you are seriously interested to know if OSI Hosting is a legit company that does exist, I truly think you need look no further than the fact that they have a listing with Dunn & Bradstreet. It's up to you to accept that, but I seriously doubt that a false company would go that far. Other sources to check would be the better business bureau, etc. If I had that kind of monthly money to spend, well, I don't think the idea that OSI Hosting.net is a scam (and I have no good reason to think that) would be on my mind. I would, however, consider that their pricing is high for what I could be doing myself or co-locating with my own bandwidth provider. |

I've done a little more research - http://ogblog.crossroadusa.com/archives/2005/03/26/271/ I'd wait to see the outcome before I host with OSI. |

That is timely and interesting, sgtcory. I don't see the business model working. I'm surprised that the government wouldn't be aware of such a large project, nor that the project is able to be paid for without even a hint of government assistance. As a side note, I'm pretty certain that one wouldn't want to irritate the press. Hanging up and not trying to provide at least a good cover story is not the best plan, especially in light of the elusive nature of the goal. Not exactly a customer magnet, to be certain. |

The reason I ask is not because I am intrested in using them but because the owner of the company put out a press release saying he was planning on putting in a huge data center complex in my town and I am involved in commercial realestate. But I did alot of my own research and it all seemed to be a scam. All the facts just didnt add up. The corp. charter listed a bunch of teenagers as the founders, and it seems they have NO customers. Seems like it was just some teens wet dream. |
