I am 17 yrs old, and have amazing ideas for a new make-up line. I have
written a business plan. I have given several presentations at major
sites such as USC with many huge investors. They have all been very
interested and one wants me to make my financials more accurate.
Basically, I have an amazing design and idea that would really sell,
and I need to know how to sell this idea for maximum results.
Please Help!

I am lookign for a vendor/manufacturer who can
produce eyeshadow components as well as blush componenets (a larger
size eye shadow component). since i am starting new, i need a cheap
vendor specializing in plastic or aluminum (depending on the price)
closures who is willing to make a small minimum amount of units.
thanks for your help!

The majority of existing cosmetic companies have moved away from the
idea of manufacturing their own products, most use contract
manufacturers.
But...
Most contract manufacturers use existing components.
Most component manufacturers have large minimums.
Are you looking to produce new eyeshadow/blush base formulas, new
components, or both? Or do you just want new shades?

For a new line of cosmetics, which sounds like mostly a marketing
concept, I'd recommend talking to professors and/or students at a
design school. F.I.T. comes to mind, or R.I.S.D. Somewhere with a
prototyping studio, and free labor who'd work on a project just for
college credit. (Not a bad concept for you, either. Keep really good
notes on everything you do, and you could get credit for this whole
experience) Get a non-disclosure form signed before you reveal any
details, though.

Another approach would be to find a local packaging company with a
friendly packaging engineer, and get him/her to help you with this as
a mentoring/learning type of project.

Lastly, you could try this site on rapid prototyping:
http://www.cc.utah.edu/~asn8200/rapid.html

Finally, check on these websites to start building knowledge:
The Society of Cosmetic Chemists http://www.scconline.org/index.shtml
CTFA International Buyers' Guide http://www.ctfa-buyersguide.org/
Independent Cosmetic Manufacturers and Distributors http://www.icmad.org/
The Cosmetic Site http://www.thecosmeticsite.com/

Keep me posted here. I've been a cosmetic chemist for over 20 years,
and this sounds like a fun project.

Whyaduck

I was reading your comment of yours and decovered that you are a
cosmetic chemist. I have located all and purchased most of the
ingredients for my formulation (will have the rest by middle of oct
2005) but I am not a skilled chemist and would like to enlist your
help with the formulation or inquire if you know anyone who would be
interested in helping me with my project. I can even pay for
assistance, although not much, (how much can be discussed)
