Is usgrantseeker.com a real firm that helps people receive US
Government grant money for a fee refundable fee of $296. Some people
called me on the phone claiming to be with this company. Are they real
or not. Am I getting ripped off, because they asked alot of personal
information that they could use to steal my identity with and I just
don't know if I need to cancel my accounts now or what.

Things to notice on the website:
The "stories" are generic, listed by other "grant" websites. There is
no mention that they were involved with obtaining them.
Search for phrases on the website and you will find many websites with
the same or similar text.
Perhaps there is more here when you login, but what you see is fairly thin.
It might be my computer, but the "Contact" page never came up for me.

You can find out more about the website at:
http://www.whois.net/whois.cgi2?d=usgrantseeker.com

Things to notice:
They have only been around since Nov 2004.
If you can trust it, the location is a house in Florida. You might
think Washington, D.C. would have a better chance.
The name does not match the email address.

You will have to decide if you want to try and get your money back.

Yes, I hope you did put a Stop payment on any checks and Closed your
bank account and opened a new one. This same thing just happened to
me yesterday, a John Fields , agent #132 said I was eligible for a
5,000 grant then he turned me over to an Allen Jackson who gave me a
customer number of #2074389, and asked for my banking account numbers
and a check number so that they could process sending me the grant for
$296.96. Well, after I hung up I called my brother and he said this
was a scam and to put a stop payment on my check, which I did, I am
also opening a new account. I have no respect for people who scam
with such slyness.Suenote@charer.net
