Hello Nasbklyn,
Probably the best comprehensive source of information about
Montpellier is the city government's own website:
http://www.ville-montpellier.fr/index.php. Just click on the Union
Jack flags for an English translation of the content, if needed.
You'll also find at this site a link to the city's tourism office,
with some nifty virtual panoramas of the city and 5 brochures for
downloading.

There's a lot of justified civic pride on display at these hometown
sites. The city is the fastest growing in France, the capital of the
region of Languedoc-Rousillon (which encompasses 5 administrative
"departements"), and a high-tech center since IBM established itself
here. It is strategically located midway between Marseilles and
Barcelona, and beautifully located on the Mediterranean. It has long
had a diverse population, including many Algerians who came here
during and after the Algerian war of independence.

From the images on the city's website, it also seems to be an
extremely attractive city, with many parks and fountains and with a
rich architectural heritage.

Incidentally, if you want to see more images of the city (and many
many links to information sources), I recommend consulting the Google
and Yahoo image banks. On Google, simply go the "Images" part of the
site and enter Montpellier, France.

Ayes, so this is why it was so hard to find information on it!

I'd really like to see some pictures of what I can expect to see
there-- and maybe a map of the town and how to get around.

The more information the better, but please give an answer so I can
pay you for your services..
