I would like to play chess with my friend on broadband. He has a Dell computer and DSL. I have a Macintosh (OSX) and cable (Comcast). Is there software available that will do this. I have Chessmaster 9000 and it says NO cross platform! | |

Hi teachjb, I'm glad to hear my suggestions were helpful. I hesitated to post an answer because I don't have a Macintosh with which to test. I'll repeat the suggestions here (slightly edited) to get them in the Answer space. Glyph Chess looks like it should work. It's free. http://www.tabberer.com/sandyknoll/more/chess/ Another possibility is to install suitable client software on each computer and play through a server. This page on the Chessopolis website lists several servers and clients. The server sites also provide client software or refer you to sources for it. Some servers are free, others are not. http://www.chessopolis.com/online.htm Thanks, --efn |

games.yahoo.com Both of you sign up for yahoo and install Java (most browsers already have this) and you can create your own games. This is how I play online. |
