finding a certain obituary

how can I find my first husbands' obituary? I have tried the papers but their archives only go back 14 days ans he died in 1999. |

Your local library may have the copies of back dated newspapers on file. If not you could alway call the newspaper and ask them what it would cost to do a back dated search for the article. |

You might also try calling the funeral home that handled his arrangements. Funeral homes often are responsible for seeing that the obituary is printed, and they may "clip" copies for their internal files, or to have "plasticized" as a "memorial" (like a bookmark) for the family. If his estate was handled by an attorney, that office also might have a copy in their file. |

If you don't know the funeral home, it usually is listed on the death certificate. Also, if a bank trust department happened to be involved, they probably also would have a copy of the obituary in their file. |
