I have a 2000 Mustang and I would love for it to be a convertible, but monetary problems prevented me from buying and insuring one. Is there any way, in my area, I can somehow pay someone to convert it? |

I am absolutely no expert, but do know that structural stability of automobiles is dependent upon the whole chassis, that convertables require additonal structural support that the same model hardtop does not have. For us laymen, for example, if you cut the top of your Mustang, with the doors open, there isn't going to be much to keep it from sagging in the middle. As to the insurance, if that is more expensive for a convertable, you can be sure that if you ever have a claim of any type, the company is going leave you holding the bag, even if you are not at fault. If your state has any kind of auto inspection, it will also cause you problems. Sure, you can always find someone who can cut the lid off, but I expect that any responsible outfit will refuse to do so. At least I hope so. |

And thank you for saying so! So often, questioners do not respond. |
