So here's my problem. I have about 200 classical cd's that I want to
backup as APE files so that if I need to convert to some future
codec, I just decompress the APE file, mount it using the cue file,
and encode the cd. The problem for me is that I have hand typed in
text files, all the cd tracks for my cd's. The CDDB and freedb
databases either dont have many cd's of mine or are innacurate.
Basically I want to avoide the last part of my process, when I encode
or "rip" the music from these imaged cd's I dont want to have to
re-type in all the cd info again.
One way I thought I could avoid typing the info in each time would be
to use the cue files and put the info there, so I just mount it and its
in, the problem is there doesnt seem to be a composer category and I
use artist for the conductor/orchestra so I dont have room. The cue
format seems limited in what can be added but if I can get composer to
work it would be perfect.

I thought a second option would be to maintain my own local freedb list
so I search each time I need the track info but only type it in once. I
havent used it before but Im assuming there is a progam that will let
me add my own cd's to a local freedb database?

I just started using cdex which reads the cue files and labels the cd
tracks accordingly and would like to continue using it for encoding
but it also seems to not have a composer box. Shouldnt the
information still be there though?

Is there another way to accomplish this other than what I have mentioned?
Im going for ease of use and compatability for the future. I feel
that cue files will probably be used for some time.

Thanks.
