My Compaq A3000 refuses to print in black. I refilled the cartridge
and it printed for a short time then quit again.  It keeps displaying
'Add Right Cartridge'.  It printed that short time while displaying
that message.  Now, after refilling the cartridge and using alcohol to
clean the contacts on the cartridge and printer, it still gives the
same message and does not print black.  The color cartridge seem's ok.
 What can I do next?

I experienced a similar problem with the HP Apollo P-1200... It's just
so much junk!... I called the service center and what was deduced was
to have me send the unit in for repair and it would have cost more
than the unit was worth...!!
Best of luck to you with your now defunct Compaq A3000 (which
by-the-way is now HP)...
