Is there a start-up business that I can begin in the Barre, Vermont area that is needed, unique, and that will be most likely to succeed more than another? I have around $10,000 to invest in such a business. I choose not to do business on Saturday, God's Sabbath. Thank you. | |

liquor, gambling, and pizza establishments are out. What aboutsomething bank related? e.g. check cashing? m-f only. You could probably do pressure washing, mowing, etc. Good luck |

Greetings, now these two questions about Barre, VT, make a little more sense. I assume that you are the wife of the pastor. If you don't want to work on Saturdays, antiques, gift shop, and selling dried flower arrangements seem not to be too promising, since Saturday would be an important day for sales. |

She loves to read, I think a used book store is in order, and since Saturday would be a big day, hire a teenager to run the shop that day. Alternatively, with that amount of cash, she could start investing in real estate, and turn the profit quite nicely. Clint |

Clint, real estate, when the pastor is looking for the best home with a 180 M $ loan in hand? Vermont is not like it was when I was in NE 45 years ago! Used books is an idea, but where to start in a small place with an inventory that all the neighbors have not already read? Hi! Do you like to cook? (If not, then do not read further :) ) Cooking seminars: you provide the ingredients and everyone follows your intructions and takes home to eat/feed/freeze. (All Barre suddenly into curry, gulash ... !) Homework assistance: to individual or several kids; or the moms, using the local school's syllabus, so they can keep up with theirs and help. Or computer, internet instruction - if you are more experienced at such. Or..., or ...? Write short stories. NO money, but self-fullfilling and you can read them to groups. |

I put this suggestion in a separate comment so you can ask to have it deleted if you wish (see the blue email address below), because you may find it inappropriately personal. As the son of families with several pastors on both sides, I would consider if maybe it is an idea to be just - entirely - the pastor's wife until the perishoners' attitude towards hia wife's having a business is known. If they were against it, all could for nought. As said, an absolutely unsolicited personal comment from a stranger. |

Hello. If you know a bit about small engines (parts, service, etc.), you may want to consider a Honda small engines parts and/or service store. We get quite a few orders on our website, WWW.2LCSTORE.COM, from the Vermont area, leading us to believe that Vermont needs this type of business. Good luck in whatever you decide. - johnny2lc-ga |

Not only do I live in Barre VT, but I just started a business where, other than time, there is no real "investment". I have been looking for someone local to assist me. 99% of this kind of work can be done from home via the telephone. I already have made a sizeable sum. I'd be willing to take in one or more partners who live in the general area of Barre VT; who have a high-speed internet connection, and has some computer experience (preferably database programming type). Unlike many of the scams you hear about, this particular "service" related business works like a charm; there are few of these kinds of companies nationwide (never mind in little olde Vermont!) and it is something that once people hear about it, they want it! By the way, this type of business can operate any hour and day at one's leisure! |
