I'm looking for 3-4 firms or consultants in New England or the
Northeastern US who provide inventory valuation services for scrap
metal companies(estimating how much inventory of a given metal is in a
given 'pile').

Looking for names of companies plus contact information (phone #'s,
addresses, e-mails if possible).

Dallascontracting: Thanks for your comment.

Just to clarify, I'm NOT looking for someone with the metalurgical
sensing machines that you mention, because the company I'm working
with has them too. I was looking for someone independent, from an
appraisal standpoint, who could come in and validate (in tons and
dollars) the amount of material in the numerous different sized piles
of different materials. In some sense, this is a pretty simple
process, since it's a geometric calculation adjusted for the material
density, however it requires someone with experience in scrap metal to
have credibility since there are a bunch of assumptions and
assessments they need to make.

I may be able to help but I need clarification of the question. Most
scrap metal companies do their own inventory of the scrap that comes
into their yard. They will separate into different categories by
non-ferrous, ferrous, exotic etc. Many of them have their own meters
that can be calibrated to various metals so they can sort through the
piles of scrap. I dont believe they use outside consultants to do
this.

If you are looking for someone to evaluate your own piles of scrap
then I can provide you the names and info of several scrap companies
that have these machines that may be able to help you out.

I have listed several companies I am familar with which are scrap
metal recyclers. As far as I know there are not independent
consultants who just go around doing estimates. The people who would
be able to do this would be in the scrap metal recycling business
themselves. I do not think they will come to your site just to do
an analysis or estimate unless they know they will get an oportunity
to buy the scrap. However, here are several companies you can
contact.

you can also go to the Institute of scrap metal recycling and probably
request or get info on other companies
