"perception is everything"
I would think the second word is "sight", "sound" or "sense" and it is
likely followed by the word "is"
That would lead me to think the first word is "this", "the" or "that"

ie..
This sight is what triggers an animal under a log.

Of course that's not quite it, but the hint makes me think the
beginning is very close.  Best of luck figuring it out!
