I only caught some of the lyrics. I only heard it once. I am not sure
that the wording is absolutely correct.  IT was a female singer, very
plain, beautiful, slow.  "there will be no black flag on my door"  "I
am in love"  "I will go down with vengence"

I'm pretty certain that the song you heard was Dido's "White Flag". A
snippet of the lyrics are:

"I will go down with this ship 
And I won't put my hands up and surrender 
There will be no white flag above my door 
I'm in love and always will be"
