Compaq computers are intentionally engineered to frustrate your every
attemt to do anything by yourself. I've wasted so many days.... I'll
never touch a Compaq again. They don't build computers, they are
locksmiths who engineer the drivers and sourcecode to be crypticly
unmanageable.

What operating system are you running on the PC? Chances are that
Windows already has the drivers that you would need. You shouldn't
have any trouble getting it to work.

Hi:
Most of the time, it should work. Ensure that the drive mountings from
the original Compaq drive are securely fixed on the IBM Travelstar,
seat the cables properly and you should be good to go...!!
