Do you remember about what year in the 80s you played it or it came out? |

It was simply called 'Adventure'. At least that was the one I was playing at the time (1980). It was written in BASIC, and I ran it on my diskless pre-AppleII DAI computer, using audio cassettes for program storage, and a big color TV (with tubes!) as a display. Another favourite was 'Lisa', a virtual shrink, who's opening line was always: 'Hi, I am Lisa, please state your problem'. |

I think the shrink program was called Eliza here's an updated version http://www.ecceliza.cjb.net/ http://www.the-underdogs.org/game.php?id=4556 there is also a game there called Crowther's Adventure which may be what you're looking for. |

Sounds to me like maybe you may be referring to multiple games from the Scott Adams collection. Mainly Adventureland and Ghost Town. Did you maybe have a collection of games on one disk? Read here about the collection: http://www.cyberroach.com/analog/an10/adams.htm Go here to download: http://www.wurb.com/if/series/4 |

Say, did you actually start from an attic or loft, and got transported to the log cabin. Was there any flotsam and jetsam? This is ringing bells. |

Just wanted to add: The "flotsam and jetsam" game was probably Treasure Island, one of my favorites growing up. For info on getting this and similar games for free, including old Infocom games and Scott Adams games, or instructions on making your own, see my article: http://www.andybrain.com/archive/interactive_fiction.htm Andy |
