I have been looking for the Specs on a motherboard. The only Stenciled
Information is AMP 8606. I tried searching on "Unkown Motherboards"
and I don't seem to find anything useful. I was looking for a site
that might help me pin point the manufacturer and may be download the
specs for it.

Hi richardja:

This will be a difficualt question to answer completely, since we
cannot see the actual motherboard. However, I might be able to guide
you through some steps to help you help yourself. Once we've
identified your motherboard, I can attempt to find the specifications
for you.

First things first, identifying your board. There are several sites
that help you with this process. Please try the instructions at the
following site and get back to us with any further data you discover:

Motherboard Identification: How to identify make/model of motherboard
URL: http://www.pcnineoneone.com/howto/moboid1.html

Any marknigs at all could be of use - not just serial numbers or model
numbers, but manufacturer names, dates, or anything else might be
helpful.

Thanks.

OK: Bar code number: 00036181242481 Also says QA in USA
I said the stenciled information from memory and got it wrong
What it reads: Apm8600: The 'A' is stylized with a trade mark
symbol.

on the back side has the CE stamp in the copper. I have seen
this before but I don't know what it means. Also in the the
copper First line weird symbol like a backward 'R' with a 'U'
coming out of the flat side of the 'R'. Then Followed by the
lettering 'P & Q' exactly as I typed it, Followed by a Black
isosoles triangle with the point up. Then on the second line
it reads: "98 18 CM-1 94v-0" The 'CM' is bolder than the rest
and '94v-0' is a point or two smaller.

Also their is a sticker " QCP Date 12/10/98 INVOICE # SI-18898"
I assumed this is where the wholesaler marked the motherboard
before shipment.

This motherboard has the VXTwo+ PCI chipset with the number on the
two larger ones: "PC82C437VX+ TAIWAN 9703CE 02B09901 97"

It also has an Award BIOS of 1995. S/N: 055304343.

It also has the stenciling "DESIGN IN U.S.A.".

The FCCID is a very valuable way to find the Manufacturer and Model Name.
WWW.DRIVERGUIDE.COM had a FCCID search engine. You might find it
printed on the motherboard, but it is probably a sticker.

This will only help if the motherboard is actually in a computer and being used.
Download a a web site called "Belarc" and then do a print out.

Kind regards

If you purchased your computer from a retailer such as Dell, Gateway,
Compaq, HP, etc. there is a large chance that the motherboard in your
computer was specifically created for that company's computers.

You can try the following programs which will identify your
motherboard's chipset, southbridge and even possibly, the motherboard
manufacturer.

Lavalys' EVEREST Home Edition -
http://www.lavalys.com/products/download.php?pid=1&lang=en&pageid=3

CPU-Z - http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php

Once Everest is installed, on the left navigation bar, expand the
Computer Category and click on Summary. Then Scroll down to where the
Motherboard information is displayed. If there is an entry for
"Motherboard Name," that's your motherboard.

Once CPU-Z is downloaded and extracted, open it and go to the
Mainboard tab. Hopefully your motherboard's manufacturer, model # and
chipset are mentioned.

When your computer starts up and counts the RAM pushing the "pause"
key on your keyboard will allow you to jot the numbers on the bottom
of your screen down. The mainboard model is in those number and
letters

Hi richardja:

Thanks for the additional information. I tried to find out who
manufactured that motherboard, but was unable to come up with a
definitive answer. Perhaps another Researcher will be able to help
you.
