I would like to have a copy of photo that was taken from the air which I have seen in the past and can't seem to find now that showed the difference in the amount of trees on Haiti and the Dominican Republic. Haiti has distroyed all its trees and the Dominican Republic has had a successful program against deforestation. Since both countries share the same island the differences in this picture were very dramatic. |

Hi petersmom, Here you go - NASA Goddard Space Flight Center Scientific Visualization Studio: Haitian Deforestation "The border between Haiti and the Dominican Republic (D.R.) is more than just a political boundary. It also reflects the large amount of deforestation that has occurred on the Haitian side of the border. One can easily see from satellite imagery the lush forests still thriving on the D.R. side of the border, which is in sharp contrast to the Haitian side of the border." * Image: 2560 x1920 TIFF 14 MB "The border between Haiti and the Dominican Republic. Haiti is to the left and the Dominican Republic is the greener area to the right." * Animation: Video ID: SVS2002-0003 Duration: 360 frames, 18.0 seconds "Animation highlighting the vegetation difference between Haiti and the Dominican Republic." http://svs.gsfc.nasa.gov/vis/a000000/a002600/a002640/index.html I trust this is what you are looking for. If you have any questions, or if this isn't suitable, please post a clarification request *before* closing/rating my answer and I'll be happy to reply.
