I have an HP Pavilion ze4610us laptop, and I am considering putting in a mini pci card (802.11g wireless) but I need to determine if it has an interal antenna, otherwise i will not have any significant range. Also, are there ways of turning a minipci card off temp. so that it does not consume power when I do not need it? Please give details on how you located the info. |

This laptop does have an internal antenna. You can turn your minipci card off anytime because it is plug and play. The way to do that will be once you install the card, in the bottom right hand corner of your screen next to the clock there will be a little green plug and play icon. All you have to do is click disable. |

Various 802.11g wireless cards seem to have differing ranges for their antenna. www.negate.com offers a where you can add an antenna of your choice http://www.netgate.com/index.php?cPath=26_39. The new 802.11n offers a wider range, but the standard has not yet been defined, even though companies are manufacturing 802.11n cardbus cards and routers.
