Question ID: 502325
hi, i'm currently using 3 samsung SyncMaster 191T plus (black) lcds
with Matrox Parhelia 256Mb for financial trading uses. And I have
recently decided to purchase 5 lcd more, totally 8. I was looking
forward to purchase the same model, but it seems the 191t+ is now a
discontinue product.

question 1: Am i still able to get the 191t+ online? where?(cheaper
price) or any other lcds would you recommand? and multi-lcd stands?

question 2: I'm now considering Colorgraphic's Xentera GT 8 and Dual
Matrox G450 MMS, what do you think about these cards?(I spent most of
the time for trading) is there any other card (or cards) would you
recommand?

qestion 3: I might also upgrade my CPU (currently AMD FX53 OC to 2600,
2GB corsair ECC, Asus Sk8n), thinking about Dual Xeon 3.6 2mb and Dual
Opteron 252, which one would be better? And Motherboards?

performance is important, price is not important.

thank you guys.

regards,

allen

FrontierPC.com (Retailer in Canada) has the Samsung SyncMaster 191T +
in stock (http://www.frontierpc.com/ProductDetail.aspx?productID=950011907)
for $954.18 CAD or $788.26 USD.

For that price, it doesn't seem worth it, especially when you can get the DELL
UltraSharp 1905FP 19-inch LCD for $350.

$499.99 - http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?sku=320-4113&c=us&l=en&cs=19&category_id=2999&page=external
- 30% off coupon (Coupon Code: QGG6H3LKWRNTL2)
= $350.00 + tax and shipping

Regarding the Matrox Parhelia cards, unless you are doing
architectural CAD design or 2D design, there is no reason to use the
Matrox cards (Matrox cards are specifically meant for 2D and CAD
design).

What you'll notice about the ColorGraphic Xentera GT 8 is that it is
really just 4 ATI RADEON 9000's, both which can handle two displays
per card. All you need to do is purchase four graphics cards capable
of dual outputs. Three of this card will do the job fine
(http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=14-139-159&depa=0)
because they are PCI. You can keep your current Matrox Parhelia which
is currently occupying your AGP slot. (The ASUS SK8N has 1 AGP slot
and 5 PCI slots). Don't let anyone tell you that you need a higher
quality graphics card for your financial trading. These cards will
suit you fine, you are not doing anything visually intensive, so you
do not require the need for $500+ cards.

As far as upgrading your computer, do you find it slow right now? It
shouldn't be. What you are using your computer for shouldn't cause
your FX-53 to lag at all. None-the-less, if you were looking to
upgrade, Dual Opterons would perform much better than Dual Xeons. If
anything, the SK8N supports up to 8GB of DDR 333 (PC2700) memory, that
would one of the first things to look at.

Cordially,
Michael Brim

mrcodedude-ga,
firstly thanks for the reply.

1, for the 191t+ i think i could find the price for around $600, can't
think of the exact website, but it was from the price comparation like
pricegrabble.com, etc. and i just want to make all screens
looked/perform the same, i tried to put two 191t+ and one viesonic
x800 , and they are just not looking the same. i'm a picky guy.

2, yea, i know my Matrox parhelia was a bad decision. I might be
wrong, but i think its the only graphic card that supports 3 screens.
I remember from Google Answer, i read one similar answer about putting
pci and agp graphic cards together will cause lag when draging from
one screen(agp) to another(pci). i'm picky again. BTW how many
monitors can windows XP pro support? ANd i'm having an issue about my
current matrox graphic card which when i'm playing videos, only the
center screen(DVI) can display the video, if i drag the video to left
or right screens(both Analog), the video just black, with sound only.
what might be the cause?

3,I'm always have a lot of programs running at the same time,
especially TradeStation when i'm doing strategy optimization, which
occupid 100% of my CPU resource. will 8GB of rams really make a lot of
difference? for the Opterons VS Xeon, could you plz go further?

thanks again.

regards,
allen
