Do you know where I can find a map of flight paths from Norwich airport - one that overlays a regular map of the town - i'm thinking of buying a house there and want to see what areas are affected by aircraft noise (especially the suburbs) - I'm not looking for any complicated air traffic control maps, just a simple overlay of where aircraft fly both on take off and landing at the airport |

Gsloman -- I don't know the Norwich Airport well enough to know its traffic but have flown extensively in the U.S. and am familiar with airport operations here: * general aviation aircraft fly a rectangular pattern around the runways, with approaches parallel to runways but 1 mile distant * for commercial aircraft, they tend to fly the instrument approaches, straight in. You can acquire instrument approach plates from a variety of services and they're undoubtedly also available printed from a flight shop. These plates are interesting because they show minimum altitude profiles. Here's one such source online: http://www.dauntless-soft.com/PRODUCTS/SimPlates/ * in the U.S., noise monitoring is the responsibility of the airport manager. They keep an active map of noise complaints and it's a public record. Indeed, you might be well-served to talk to the airport manager. Best regards, Omnivorous-GA |
