I'm wondering how Netflix fulfills movies. Specifically, I've heard
they toss the DVDs in a bin, and scan every DVD daily to see if it
should be sent out to a new customer. I'm looking for an article that
confirms this.

I dounbt that they do that. It is more than likley it is all
computerized. They have a list of the dvds and they have somone pull
them and ship them.
