Hello again, Mongolia!

I've gathered the names and URLs of ten large companies which make use
of MLM (multi-level marketing):

Amway
http://www.amway.com

Beauticontrol
http://www.beauticontrol.com

Discovery Toys
http://www.discoverytoysinc.com

Herbalife
http://www.herbalife.com

Pampered Chef
http://www.pamperedchef.com

Partylite
http://www.partylite.us

Shaklee
http://www.shaklee.com

Tupperware
http://www.tupperware.com

Usborne Books at Home
http://www.ubah.com/ubah.htm

Watkins
http://www.watkinsonline.com

There's some useful info in this category of the Google Directory:

Google Directory: Business > Opportunities > Networking-MLM
http://directory.google.com/Top/Business/Opportunities/Networking-MLM

Here you'll find reviews of some MLM companies:

MLM Bigmouth: Company Reviews
http://www.mlmbigmouth.com/reviews.html

Google search strategy:

Google Web Search: "multilevel marketing OR mlm"

If you need to know more about any of these companies, I'll be glad to help.

Dear Pink!
Many thanks for your usual swift reply. My interest in MLM's steams
from the fact that I was almost sucked in by one of these odious
outfits. I am however surprised why some otherwise reputable
corporations would use this sleasy method to sell their products. As
has been noted in this forum before the only winners in this process
are the people who get in early and of course the corporations
themselves (a very cheap way to market and sell their products)

As a final comment , I have noted lately a plethora of adverts for
"Homebased Business's" both on the web and in local newspapers. All
these eventually appear to go back to (yes you have guessed it)
HERBALIFE.

Thank you very much for the five-star rating and the nice tip! I'm
quite leery of MLMs, since several of my friends and relatives have
had bad experiences with them. Even the older, well-established MLM
companies look like a ripoff to me; their products are necessarily
overpriced because of the number of "cuts" that will be passed up the
pyramid. I prefer to buy something that has fewer links in the
distribution chain. I would never want to invest in nor work for a
company whose main purpose is not to market its actual product, but to
recruit new levels of gullible people.

I think Pink's comments show an unnecessary bias toward the topic. In
a legitimate MLM (of which there are several hundred), distributors
ONLY make money when product is sold....NOT for the recruiting of
other people.

In a nutshell: if distributors are getting paid for recruiting (and
not for product sales), then it's not an MLM. It's an illegal pyramid
scheme.

As has been evidenced by the above list of reputable companies, I
think it's remiss to categorically criticize the entire industry by
saying that they're only focused on "recruiting new levels of gullible
people".

I think it would serve GoogleAnswers well to have their researchers
either avoid giving personal anecdotal opininos or, at least,
requiring them to be clearly labeled as not part of the researcher's
paid answer.

tonyrush,

Please note that my opinion of MLMs was not part of my paid answer. It
was posted in the "Comments" section, and was a response to the
customer's remarks in the Ratings Box.
