How do I make the Compaq Digital Dashboard work in Windows XP? It says
it can't but I want to find a way.

Hello:
  I have made a lot of research and here are my results:

Digital Dashboard Error Occurs When Upgrading Certain Presario
Computers from Windows ME to Windows XP Home Edition

"RESOLUTION
Uninstall Compaq Digital Dashboard in Add/Remove Programs (Start >
Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs) prior to upgrading to
Windows XP Home Edition to work around the issue."

But I think this workaround is to prevent the Installer to try upgrade
the Digital Dashboard software, because just below you can read this
amazing note:

"NOTE
Compaq Digital Dashboard has two main features: time synchronization
from the Internet and turning on the mail LED when POP3 mail has been
received. Windows XP includes a time synchronization feature. Windows
XP also includes a mail checking feature on the welcome screen and
lists the number of emails received by each user. Since equivalent
functionality is included in the operating system, the Compaq Digital
Dashboard software enhancement is not required when running Windows
XP."

And if you search for news messages you can find similar problems:

I have searched for any hardware mod or hack and I can't find any, my
conclusion is that Compaq has ceased to support this software under XP
(as you say) and it's not possible to make it work, I'm sorry.

was hoping for a mod or hack or something, but obviously there is
none. Thank you.
