Is there a Web site that allows me to search all the files posted on a
state Web site? The site,
http://www2.vipnet.org/dhp/cgi-bin/search_publicdb.cgi, limits my
searches, but I want to do a key word search on all of the files
(usually PDFs) that are accessible through their "name," "title," "zip
code" search. Basically, you can look up public information about any
dentist in Virginia, but I don't want to look up someone's file... I
want to search the site for all files that mention "anesthesia" or
"sedation."

copyboy4b-ga,

I looked at some of the dentist PDF files you mentioned. The PDF's
have been scanned in, and do not appear to be searchable -- that is,
they were not scanned in a way that convert's the image into
readable/searchable text.

What this means is, even if you could access all the documents all at
once, you wouldn't be able to search them, since the search engine
wouldn't "see" the text, and couldn't find words like "anesthesia".

If you open one of the PDF's and try to search it with Adobe's own
search function, you'll see what I mean.

If there's something in particular you want to know about Virginia
dentists, perhaps ask us directly and we may be able to help.

Thanks for tip. I'll ask someone on my end about making a more specific request!
